‘Finally, a man who listens!’ Romantic guy takes a Hinge match on a trip to COSTCO after she joked in her profile that it would be her ideal first date
There’s nothing like bulk-buying groceries to fan the fires of romance.
Actually, there are probably plenty of things more romantic than taking a shopping trip to Costco.
But when one woman wrote that the super store was her perfect first date location in her dating app profile, a man she matched with took her at her word — and whisked her away on a very unique first outing together.
Romance in aisle three! A dating app user wrote in her Hinge profile that she’d like to go on a date to Costco — so her match took her there
Sounds fun! Social media users have gone wild for the sweet date, and many would like to go on a similar one
The Betches Instagram account discovered the seemingly well-matched couple after the woman shared her first date story on Twitter.
The woman — known only as Sprinkledsarah67 — has since deleted her profile, but not before she went viral with her funny story of millennial dating.
Sarah was using the dating app Hinge and included a witty line in her profile, which one of her matches paid close attention to.
‘My Hinge profile said my ideal first date would be Costco…’ she wrote. ‘This guy took it seriously.’
She included three photos from the date, showing the soft-serve ice cream they ordered, as well as two women serving samples.
While the date was certainly unconventional, Sarah clearly had enough fun to snap the photos along the way.
Dinner: It’s certainly a cheap date, with inexpensive food and lots of samples to try
Really romantic! This man actually proposed to his wife at a Costco — after they’d had a first date there
‘Finally a man that knows how to listen,’ Betches joked.
Dozens of commenters seemed tickled by the date idea, calling it ‘perfect’ and saying the man was ‘marriage material’.
‘I would totally be content with a Costco date in general,’ wrote one. Added another: ‘Actually, this is where my husband and I had our first dates and hang outs.’
The idea for a first or early date at Costco has actually been explored before, and several articles have been written about why it’s a great first date location.
A writer at FoodBeast pointed out that it’s a pretty cheap date, since there are ‘tons of free samples’ and dinner for two — should you buy food, like hot dogs — is inexpensive
Bright idea: Last year, a man named Alex McMullen went viral for his thread reasoning that Costco was a great first date location
Forming a plan… He pointed out that that the food is inexpensive and the employees are nice
Future… There’s plenty to see while walking around, including happy families
In agreement: He has earned thousands of likes for the thread
The site also notes that it’s ‘packed with conversation starters’ and a great opportunity to show your financial smarts.
In 2017, Twitter user Alex McMullen went viral for a thread that explained that ‘the Costco food court is the ideal first date location for so many reasons’.
‘First and most importantly, it acts as a test. If they are not down to eat at a Costco food court with you they are not worth your time,’ he wrote. ‘If you don’t have a membership, you get to be a little bad*** by sneaking in the exit of the Costco. This should impress your date.
‘The checkout people are always so nice and they’ll probably say how nice your date looks and u can agree with them,’ he added as another reason.
‘Your date will also notice the many happy families walking around and will consider that maybe one day they could have something like that,’ he wrote.

The pair were visiting from Connecticut, and Sidd planned a day of activities leading up to the proposal.

Melanie and Sidd embarked on a specially designed interactive experience across the store’s three floors, which included various nods to their relationship.
Sidd eventually got down on one knee and asked Melanie to marry him, to which she said yes.
